At 20 yards I shot a doe with a 44 magnum Marlin. My dad shot a doe at about 8 feet with a 12 gauge slug in the spine.

I shot a 9 point a few years ago that was about 10' from the tree I was in. I was about 20' up the tree.

10 ft with a 12gauge slug. A doe jumped up between me and a buck that I was shooting at as we were walking in, picked her up in air and threw her against the small buck knocking him down. the slug entered behind the left rib and stopped just under the skin on the right rump. He got up and ran in a circle around us. The kids and my buddy shot at him but missed.
