Patience, you have to pass on a lot of real nice younger bucks. Let them grow.

You may only see him once the entire fall hunting season during shooting light, so decide and act FAST!

Lot of luck involved, being in the woods when a mature buck makes a mistake.

SINGLE most important fact, hard to narrow it down to one single thing but if I have to pick one it would be that you HAVE to pass up smaller ones to get a big one. For me that has meant eating my tag a few seasons cuz' the big one never came. It also meant shooting a few dandies.

Persistance and time spent in the woods. You also have to be able to let a lot of decent bucks walk by, and accept not tagging anything for the season.

Being in the right place at the right time. It helps when you are in the woods as often, because you cant shoot a trophy buck from your couch, and it helps to be in an area with good deer sign, because you KNOW there is a big deer there.

It's not all about finding the biggest deer.

Hunt,Hunt,& Hunt some more. Put in the time and learn by watching deer. Then be ready for The day when you are at the right place at the right time. Good luck!
