For taxidermy, is there an actual association or organization we can go to and ask about the qualifications/results/experience of the taxidermist we're considering? It's easy for someone to say call Joe Blow about his mount and he turns out to be his drunk brother-in-law who'll say anything for a six pack. These mounts we are entrusting to them are too important to hand over to anyone.

I always wondered the same thing. I always just asked around and looked a examples of there work. One time I had a guy who said he would do a european mout for me and it was a disaster. First time I called to check he told me it was in his back yard and he was waiting for crittes to cleam it up for him. I told him to flesh it out himself. Then when he was boiling the skull he burnt the tip on one of my tines. I took the skull off of him, bought the kit from Cabela's and did it myself. I was able to fix the tine with some fine emory cloth.
