Go to an archery pro shop that has a range. Ask them what they have in your price range, then shoot them. Pick what you shoot best. If you are new to bow hunting buying from a proshop gives you someone to help you keep things in tune, make repairs and bounce questions off of. You might pay more, but the service is worth it in the long run!

Agree with beekeeper, go to a proshop. Especially at this time of year. Not to many people are going in right now, they would be more than happy to help get you set up and could probably do it in your price range. Shoot a bunch of bows and go with what shoots/feels the best.

You can google Mathews or click this link. Look at the top of the page for "retailer locater" . That will help you find the nearest dealer to your home. While Mathews is the "Cadillac" of bows they also have nice bows in that price range.http://mathewsinc.com/. I got a Mathews Mustang for my daughter and she loves it. You might as well start out with the best. If you don't that is where you will likely end up. Once a dealer has measured your draw. You might get a good deal on Ebay.

I've only been bow hunting for a little over a year now i started out using a classic High Country and it was ok....the big problem was i couldnt keep it lined up so i got a new bow....the a 2008 101st airborne by bowtech its a great bow and even i can shoot it decently well....but everyone has there own comfort zone...when you look for a new bow look for somthing thats comfortable for you to shoot...its not alwayz the name of the bow that counts.....my little cousin bought a 40$ compund bow...of course its not as fast as a bowtech or matthews and not quite as nice yet he's good with it......because hes comfortable with the way it feels
