Depends on how well you shoot it and how good a hunter you are. A compound will increase you range a bit.

I can shoot my compound out prolly 20-25 yard in a good group but I havent hunted much cause my dad dosent go any more most of my shots with a rifle where inside 30

If your'e not proficirnt with the recurve get a good quality compound for hunting, but keep the recurve for fun/targets, etc! kolbster's right about the draw weight, 60-70 is good.
Lots of Native American took down a lot of deer with homemade recurves though.

The recurve is great for bowfishing but if you really want to succed with deer and turkeys get a 60-70 lb compound with 80% let off. Use quality arrows and broadheads.

I would keep the recurve to use when you become better and more used to bowhunting. I would definately get a compound. They are easier to shoot and starting with a compound will get you used to bowhunting and getting close to the deer.

I would personally get a compound, but recurves work great. If you can shoot out to 30 yards there is not really any point in changing.

I learned on that very same recurve its a solid bow keep practicing with that beauty and you will be the envy of your compond buddies if you can master that bow a compound will feel like a walk in the park.

if you are shooting good with a recurve i wouldnt switch, i wish i was comfortable with a recurve!
