I saw a hen with six poults few days ago.
    Good nesting weather for them.

    What are you seeing?

    I've seen absolutely nothing.
Nor have I been out and about much.
Though the weather was funky (warm, cold, warm, cold) all spring, the hatch should have been pretty good.
We're just now getting into >100°F daytime highs, so hopefully, survival rates will be up.

            Why not?
It can be just as infuriating and exciting as a spring hunt!

Just a guess, it overlaps with bow season.

Archery season is open here. I would have arrowed a turkey by now had I not severely burned my right thumb last week (welding gloves too worn).

I've got three groups of hens and poults plus two-month olds are coming into my yard and garden every day since July. Groups range from 8 to 14, and they are pretty aggressive towards each other. Last Sunday I was BBQing steaks for an early Labor Day party and a nice Tom flew right into my yard, 20 yards from the BBQ, and proceeded to service every one of the ladies in two of the groups. Don't underestimate turkey stamina!

These turkeys have become quite accustomed to us this summer, which has been unusually hot and dry. They have learned to drink right from the yard sprinklers, and some days they come running when the sprinklers start (7 a.m.) They have learned the watering schedule!
