Put up the Christmas tree yesterday. After a year with a fake tree i insisted we go back to an authentic tree. I was also able to convince the family to hang small antlers, lures, and duck calls as ordainments. Do u put a real or fake tree and what are your ordainments?

I went through that too and can understand your preference. Now we use a fake tree to avoid the mess and extra work. We DO bring in real pine boughs to decorate so we have the smell of real pine through he holidays. We use a variety of ornaments that have been gifts, items of special significance or little things we made together when the kids were young. Merry Christmas and enjoy your tree but most of all enjoy your family.

I cut down my families tree out back yesterday. it is a big one, we had to cut the top off to fit it in the house. we have a red and white theme this year.

Way too much commercialism for me to enjoy XMAS anymore. Kids grownup, and NO dangerous trees to cause a fire, and the mess involved. A wreath hangs on the door. When I make joke that has a lot of truth in it at a retailer that welcomes me with "Merry Xmas" I tell them "not for me. I am the Scrouge this time of year." Way too much traffic, people displaying their selfishness, rudeness, traffic jams, etc. And I don't know how many times I've told that too a female employee, and she says, "You are just like my husband." Bah-humbug!

I have to have a fake tree or I wouldn't have a nose or eyeballs. Real pine trees make my allergies go haywire. I can only be around a real pine tree for a very short time before my eyes start to swell up and my nose becomes athletic. I wish I could but I simply can't.

Exactly. I go into my grumpy face mode, and hangout in seclusion behind the monitor, and tell fishin, and huntin lies on these threads. Get sales crap all over the place on my doorstep, and mailbox...overflows my garbage cans. And God help the poor person that calls for a political contribution. Boy do they get an earful.

Fake tree in our house. We have a family picture ornament each year and fill the rest of the tree with kid artwork.

My wife is allergic to the real ones so fake tree for us. Once it is all decorated it looks alright and since most of the real ones end up in the landfill it doesn't bug me to use a fake.
A Merry Christmas to all of you!

                    Dangle, lighten up.

The only lightness I experience is when animals get rewarded, and poor people taken care of, otherwise XMAS is for the birds...my big bird feeder outside my front window. Otherwise youngsters just get more electonics, and get fatter.

Fake tree here, I would prefer a real one but for some reason I keep putting up the fake one. Our tree has mostly decorations that the kids have made or some other significance

Great idea with the decorations. Fishing lures are just great for all kinds of things (after you take the hooks off, anyway). My niece used to make earrings with my spinner-making kit.

And I made earrings made of fly patterns....college them colors displayed on a black velvet covered board. Sold them commercially at a high end lodge out of Seattle, WA. "WA Husky flies"..."WA St. Cougar flies."

hey chuckles, I will be using my tree as a hunting blind when Christmas is over. before I was serious about hunting we would just burn them.
