I was looking to get into hunting geese and ducks. The problem is that I don't know what gear I need or where to hunt or what ideal conditions are. Any tips would be appreciated.

The smartest thing you can do is go on a guided hunt in your area.Waterfowl hunting is different from one geographic area to another. You will get more birds and save a lot of time and money.

See your next question for needs. Best condition is weather not fit for man nor beast. Freezing rain, sleet and snow with terrible cold north wind above 20 mph. This gets them thinking about traveling and they move by the thousands. They move south with the wind but need to drop in for water, food and shelter periodically. Find a pond they can duck into for water and shelter or a field they like for feed.

I wouldn’t spend that much on a 10/22 but I might on a bolt gun. For that kind of money I expect some style to go with it, of the Cooper or Annie level....
