THIS IS THE MOST USEFUL PIECE OF INFORMATION ON TURKEY SHOT PLACEMENT WITH A BOW THAT YOU WILL EVER NEED. "Aim high, watch 'em die; Aim low, watch 'em go!" The aim spot on a turkey is just below the waddle when it's facing you. aim about 2 inches below the base of the neck. when the bird is fanned out, facing away from you. aim like you're gonna put the arrow right up it's butt! just at the base of the fan. if it's facing away from you and not fanned out, just aim towards the very center point of the whole back. make sure you get the spine. when it's fanned out broadside, find the base of the neck and aim about an inch into the body. when it's not fanned out and it is broadside, aim about 3 inches into the body from the base of the beard. HOPE I HELPED!

OH I almost forgot! well jeesh! usually in states, a 40 pound draw weight is the minimum. but that's plenty enough to take a turkey at 15 yards. i would say shoot the weight that you're capable of shooting. make sure you're capable of shooting the legal weight though. if you can shoot 60 pounds, take a turkey with 60 pounds. if you can shoot 75 pounds, shoot a turkey at 75 pounds. just make sure your draw weight is legal.

Very good post Reid... you sound like a turkey hunter. My only difference is if they are standing broadside, I aim for the point right above where their leg joins the body. That gets you in the vitals. On a broadside shot, you have to be cautious of putting the arrow too far forward into the breast meat where there are no vital organs. You can shoot high for the neck base but that doesn't give you much room for error. I like the "above the leg shot" because it gives me about a 4 to 5 inch diameter kill zone. Any draw weight above 30 pounds will do although states have their minimums. Turkeys aren't tough for an arrow, they just have a lot of meat area on the breast that is NOT a kill zone. If you hit them in a kill zone, they will die.

Poundage sounds right. I aim at the same spots mentioned above.

If you are going to kill a turkey, DONT AIM AT THE HEAD, LOL YOU'LL MISS! Try aiming low at the chest right under his neck line, maybe 3 inches below that. I'd say about 3-4 pounds for the bow...
