When duck hunting on a large reservoir, do you go to an island or point in the big water or look for shallower back water coves?

Everywhere I have ever been, waterfowl that end up in bays are flying in front of a storm, headed for points South.

Watch for the jet stream looping down on the TV weather map..

You want to be there when the leading edge of the storm reaches your hunting place.

Get on the lee side of a peninsula in deep water for divers.

The lee side in shallower water for honkers and Mallards.

Depends on the time of year and weather and also what kind of ducks you want to shoot. You're more likely to find divers off the islands and points in big water while puddle ducks might prefer the shallower coves where they can feed more easily.
