Ah had been hunting inna "public access" waterfowling area and Ah observed whut time the truck chased the geese offa de roost.

Ah wuz standing out indy open with no decoys and de puppies wuz runnin after each other full speed indy flooded areas, kicking up as much wake and spray as water skiers and people wuz looking pissed off from their picture-perfect setups and we wz raisin hell and shooting at ennything thet come near and here they come!

Thousands jumped at 8:15 AM and flew over the trees, straight overhead about 50 yards up.

Easy shooting with heavy shot #4's.

put yourself between where they are coming and where they want to be...gotta be close to where they land though so they are low enough to pass shoot. did this the other day, set up next to a cut corn field and knew which way the geese would come in. couldnt get permission to hunt the corn so i got permission to hunt the property right next door and shot them as they came into the corn. do not call in this situation, it will only hurt you.

THanks. I've never hunted geese before without decoys, and only once with decoys, so thats a big help.

I have actually had luck just last week calling in resident birds with only one caller, and not calling hard. Have also seen redident geese snub too much calling and keep on going. In my experience call light to get their attention and let them come see what's up.

If you are hunting local geese, watch them and see where they go to feed first thing in the morning. Then get out there before they do the next morning. You can also spot geese in fields, sneak within about 200 yards upwind and fire a shot in the air to scare them up. They won't know where it came from as long as you stay hidden. When they rise, they will head into the wind to get airborne fast. They should pass over your head about 20 yards high. Just don't let them fall on your head!
