I was recently reminiscing about my first goose hunt out on the ChesapeakeBay (when that was still a great place to hunt geese). My father had taken me along on his annual hunt with my uncle and cousin, as well as several or their friends. I remember many things from that hunt; the genius of a pit blind (I had never seen one before), the sound of wings over the blind, and the extraordinary accuracy of my shotgun, despite never shooting at a moving bird before. It seemed I never missed. In retrospect, I realize that the veterans let me claim their birds simply because I aimed at the sky and pulled the trigger. I was instantly reminded of the first time my brother-in-law and I took his son ptarmigan hunting. The kid had an uncanny knack for hitting birds on the win with his Red Ryder while his father and I missed with our shotguns. Did any of you have similar experiences as children, or create them as adults?

well Im not really an adult yet(I have to wait another 2 years) but I have a lot of memories form the field that I believe I will carry with me forever. To name a few, my first deer:a six point buck on video with a bow, my first elk hunt, first duck hunt:4 hunters with 14 birds(13 mallards one redhead) and seeing thousands of birds

I have a lot of memories of the first this, first that but have not had experience like you mention. Everything i got was pretty much the result of my own efforts. I did have good mentors so the mistakes were kept to a minimum. I will always remember the hunts and satisfaction of getting the deer or pheasant or squirrel on my own.
