We have an early season here in Alabama with liberal bag limits for nuisance resident Canada geese, but it ends well before the migration.

I've actually eaten snow geese before. It was marinaded and cooked over an open camp fire, and it turned out delicious.

Snows will destroy a field in a few days, they come in by the 1000s and nobody I know eats them. They are pests.

As others said, habitat destruction and it's affecting the other waterfowl. Around here if your hunting snow geese there's a good chance the game warden will not waste his time checking you for a license. Shoot, shoot, shoot.

Like everyone else said. Too many snows, not enough Canadas... says the DNR. There's still far too many Canadas crapping all over the place in my opinion.

Its unlimited lots of places, they're trying to thin them out because of habitat destruction. They are eating themselves out of house and home.(snows)
