You won't know unless you get out there and hunt. It's the mediocre seasons that make the fine ones so fine. Remember folks, our days are numbered and you never know when you will have your last. Besides a bad day of hunitng is better than a day on the job.

The drought here in Georgia has kept the hatch down the past 3-4 years. Last year we had a decent hatch for a change. I've seen lots of jakes and they have been gobbling their heads off! This is a sure sign older birds are scarce. Hope some of them make it to next year. We have been really wet and cold this spring so far. Looks like the makings for another bad hatch...

Bad wet weather in the last few Springs caused poor nesting results they said.

Did they give a reason for their prediction?

Where I hunt in Kansas it looks like there are plenty of Jakes and Toms out there. Today's KC Star has an article about MO's seaon starting tomorrow. They expect success to be very poor. One of the worst years in a long time. What say you? They also have a pic of a kid with a 30 pound bird taken in the youth season. http://www.kansascity.com/sports/story/1149520.html
