Go fixed blades. The kill zone is so small on a turkey that a mechanical can easily be deflected out of the kill zone by a wing bone. Mechanical heads will float through a body at the whim of the loose blades and exit god knows where. A fixed blade will cut and exit where shot.

    Stay away from mechanicals.

I would agree with shane and Clay Cooper, fixed blades, but not Muzzy, try either Slick Trick 100 Grain Magnums, or G5 Strikers. Ultra-Sharp, durable, field point-accuracy!

On turkeys I'm OK with mechanical broadheads, but in general I'm with Clay. Dump them things. The simplest is always the most effective and consistently deadly.

Dump the mechanical broadheads! I checked out shane's link and its darn good info!

I use 100 grain 3 blade Muzzy for everything and it shoots just as flat and accurate as a mechanical at 60 yards

Pretty effective. Go to the bottom of this page for where to aim -

If you want to do the headshot thing with a decapitator type broadhead, I would go with the Magnus. It's more accurate (very important in the turkey headshot game), and more durable.

How effective is body shot on a turkey with a mechanical broadhead? Do they work well? Have many turkeys been lost? Or should I just go with the Magnus Bullhead or the Guillotine.
