@Goose, I've been thinking about starting to make my own calls but I don't have any experience using a lathe, how hard was it to get started and how long have been using a lathe prior to making your calls?

I started out around a year ago, I worked first at making pens which helps a lot. The best way to learn is to watch someone else turn or to have someone help you your first few tries.

You can make an elongated version of the original design. Some goose calls are made like this. It will effect the sound though you would expect that.
