    We "put the turkeys to bed." That means scout just before dusk, to find where the birds are roosting. That's where they'll be at Sun-up the next morning. Also look for scratching, where the leaves are scratched away by turkeys looking for food.

      I'm not much of a turkey hunter but steve182 gave good advise. In the spring while hunting for mushrooms I pay attention to areas that have food. Nuts, plants etc. Those are areas good for deer. One thing I've seen for sure is an area that has low grass or weeds and contains grasshoppers. Turkeys love them for the protein.

        Look for where they scratch for food, look for dust bowls, and look for big J shaped turds. Those are tom turds.
