I'm not much of a turkey hunter but steve182 gave good advise. In the spring while hunting for mushrooms I pay attention to areas that have food. Nuts, plants etc. Those are areas good for deer. One thing I've seen for sure is an area that has low grass or weeds and contains grasshoppers. Turkeys love them for the protein.
