    Plastic five gallon buckets can be used but the assembly process can be cumbersome. Here are a couple of links. One is for an old Corp of Engineers publicaton that has all kinds of ideas and plans, even ammo cans...

    I recently built 2 woodduck boxes out of 1x12 pine. The plans called for cedar but they did not have 1x12 and I did not want to spend a fortune. I coated the outside of the boxes in polyurethen (sp). I did not spend a lot to do this. I hope they hold up. I pulled the plans from a book I got from the DNR in my state.
