Why Aren't Turkey Eggs Sold at the Grocery Store?? I get mine at a local farm but I never see them in any regular store or the Wally World..I'm curious to know Why?? Thanks!!!

Cost? what kind? think, it is called supply and demand. not just cost. If people wanted this product, cost would not be an issue. Just think of cigerettes, who cares how much it cost, people pay for it!

taste, richer and thicker then a chicken egg as well as size.

I thought since they are labeled as eggs and not labeled as chicken eggs. the extra large ones could be turkey eggs.

IMHO, they are a little sweeter than chicken eggs and My 11 year old son Loves to eat them!!!

I grew up eating turkey eggs but they were not plentiful. My mother's turkeys only laid eggs for a few months out of the year. She would steal them out from under the turkeys to try to make them keep laying and then set most of them under chickens to hatch. She would then sell the baby turkeys to the local feed store to help pay for the chicken feed. I do not remember our turkey hens laying but three or four dozen eggs a year. Therefore, I would assume that in order to have a supply for the market, you would need turkeys that laid eggs most of the year, not just during (for the lack of a better word), "rut". We also used goose eggs for baking cakes and such, but here again, they only laid for a short time each year.

Raising turkeys for their eggs would be costly. On top of that there isn't much demand for them so most stores wouldn't sell them because they would take up room of a item they could sell.
