    I'd go with the 44mag. I can hit a gallon milk jug at 100 yards with mine. I believe you get better penetration at longer ranges with sufficient energy which begins to fall off with all the others mentioned.

    Honestly I have a ruger super blackhawk in a 44 and cant hit the broad side of a barn with it past 20 yards! I dont know if I am flinching or if its just to bad ass for me but my old man has a 357 that i find is more to my liking.

    44 mag, 250 grain cast with 21 grains of Hercules 2400!!
