I'm still a novice, but finally getting to the point that I can go out without having my hand held. Really looking forward to this fall.

I hope I don't sound mean about it, but I prefer to only go out with people at my level or higher.

That way I try harder not to make a dumb mistake. I've had to teach things before. Try teaching land navigation. Then you have to go out and find the slowest learners!

When I'm out, I like to enjoy and think about what I myself am doing. I don't think that's as fun when you have to keep track of beginners carrying high-powered rifles.

That's for hunting. Target shooting, or a structured event... I can do that with anyone.

I love to take beginners both adult and kids with me if I feel they are sincere and will pay attention to safety. However the old timers alway teach me new tricks. The problem here is that the old guys are now getting to elderly to make the trip so I have to listen to them in town and remember what they told me.

I am both. I try to pass on what I've learned about hunting to anyone I think it might help but I am also very eager to pick up any information I can.

Little story. My second year of night fishing the hex hatch in Michigan, an older gentleman took me under his wing and showed me some ropes I was tripping over on my own. A couple years ago I ran into two hex virgins taking a chance with unknown fast water and sweepers in the middle of the night. I took the old gentleman's lead and did my part for them. They're hooked on flyfishing now. They've offered me a beer whenever I've run into them. Not that I did it for the beer, but ....
