If you could only own one caliber rifle for all big game hunting, what would it be?

Depends on where you are from, I'm from Montana and I use a 300 mag. It's a tad bit powerful for deer, but for elk it's great. I think a 270 is also a good gun!

I would probably have to pick the .306, especially after remington made a bunch of new loads to better suite hunters. They know have catridges in .306 that can be used on deer all the way up to big game which makes it very versatile.

I THINK I could kill anything I wanted to with a 25-06 but I KNOW I could kill anything I ever needed to with a 338 win mag. I am confident with one and supremely confident with the other, the other is just a little harder on the shoulder.

Define big game. North America + plains game, .30-06
Anything more, i.e. big-ass game, minigun.

30-06 for pretty much all NA big game. Pack a .500 S&W for grizley country.

.45/70. From the wild west, to across the ocean to shoot the other kind of buffalo. But not without first hanging out in the Vermont deer woods for a while, or making a pit stop in Washington for elk and some Garrett Cartridges.

Military cartridge, they will always be around. .30-06 first, then .308.
