I would have to agree with going with the 870 express. It will go BOOM every time and is easy to disassemble. Call the company and check to see if the make left handed models I believe the might.

you may want to check out mossbergs 535ats combo line of shotguns they may be a little cheaper but still a very dependable gun at o.f. mossberg & sons inc.

I would try a Tomphson Centerfire, because you interchange any barrel into it for muzzle loader, rifle, and shotguns. The only down side of this gun is if you duck hunting with it, it is a single shot.

You may want to think about getting an 870 rifled barrel/field barrel combo in 12 gauge. The 12 gauge has more shot capacity and power for waterfowl and is easier (and less expensive) to find a great variety of waterfowl loads for. For deer the 12 gauge is a much better choice with buckshot because of the increased pellet count. The increased payload capacity is also better for turkeys, which may be a hunting option. I started with a 12 gauge and really didn't find it too much gun for my small frame.

If your looking for a cheaper gun, and at 12 years old I'm guessing you are, I would look into the H&R guns. They have many different calibers of rifles and shotguns and even muzzleloader barrels that interchange. These guns are very accurate for as inexpensive as they are. I have a .30/06, a .204, a .500 S&W, and 20 gauge rifled bull barrel. The 20 gauge with Hornady SST Slugs will accurately shoot 200+ yards with plenty of power to put 'em down. It's only a single shot but still a great gun for the money.

Remington 870 its the most dependable gun out there with a combo barrel.

I own a BPS and for a lefty you couldn't ask for a better gun, fully ambidexterus, bottom load and eject, top tang safety and a solid gun that you will be proud to pull out 10 20 30 years from now. It is more expensive but will fit a lefty and isn't what everybody else has.

I think that the 870 is a left handed gun also
