All three have different configurations but all involve the shooting of clay pigeons.

Trap has one location that the clay pigeons are thrown out of. Skeet has 2 and sporting clays I has multiple. Sporting clays is the most challenging and most realistically recreates a hunting scenario.

Skeet and trap ar shot on a range using shotguns to shoot at clay pidgeons. Basically trap shoots shoot at targets rising and going away at different angles. Skeet has more crossing targets and also some double targets. I got bored with trap pretty fast although it was my best game. Sporting clays is set up like a golf course. You walk through the woods to different stations. At each one you shoot several times and the targets come from different directions at every station. It is the most challenging by far and the most expensive. now they have what they call 5 stand which is kind of a cross between all three and musch cheaper than Sporting clays.

Skeet if I recall right is when the clay pigeon is thrown straight out and trap is when it's thrown more sideways or maybe an angle.

Trap supposedly provide better practice for migratory birds such as ducks and geese, skeet for upland birds (pheasant, dove, quail, etc.), and sporting clays impresses me as excellent practice for a broad variety of shotgunning situations.
