I hunt deer and hogs here in the Low Country of South Carolina with shotguns (Stoeger 2000, Rem. 870 and 1187). All of these shotguns have 28"barrels, 3" chambers and have screw in modified chokes. My son is a law enforcement officer and I have had the opportunity to shoot his tactical shotgun, which I fell in love with. The short barrel and iron sites I believe would be great here in the thick swamps of coastal S.C.. So, who makes a short barreled (18 - 20") tactical shotgun (pump or Semi auto) that has screw in chokes (Prefer Modified) and what disadvantages might such a gun have over what I'm using?

Almost any tactical shotgun would work, and many of them come with iron sights and are tapped for optics as well and that's a bonus. Look at Mossgerg's turkey guns with tactical stocks or some of the 870s.
Theoretically a short barrel might not pattern as well as a longer barrel but you might not be able to tell the difference.
Tactical pistol grips are very handy in the woods.
The only drawback with these guns is they are ugly, which is why I stopped shooting turkeys with tac-style shotguns.
