Help me out, is there anything on the gun stamped M.1892, is it single or double action, whats the barrel length, serial #, is there an inspectors stamp with an initial. All info is critical with these Colts as prices fluctuate. And boy do they.

It's double action. On the barrel it says
      "Colt's PT.F. A.MFG CO HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.
      PAT'D AUG.5.1884 JUNE 5.1900 JULY 4.1905"

Then the side of the barrel says Colt Army Special 38

When you pull the chamber out there is
"343042 then it looks like a U below that."

Then above the handgrip there is an impression on a horse.

        toms,
According to Fjestad blue book, if I have all the info correct, you have an Army Special Model(colts name). Hard rubber grips were standard through 1923 - checkered wood with medallion beginning about 1924. Manufactured 1908-27.
I'm assuming this is not new in box condition so some prices given are: 98%-$750, 95-600, 90-400, 80-325.
Fjestad does seem to price conservatively so its possible a Colt collector may offer more.

Value depends a lot on condition and all I can do without photos, the caliber, the barrel length, what type of grips it has, etc., is give you a range of $250-$350.
