anyone know the drop rate of 12ga slugs. was only able to shot at a target from 30 yd. away and it hit 7" high. I think it will be right on for 100 yd shot. anyone differ? i was shoting 2 3/4" rifled slug out of a 20" smooth bore barrel w/ iron sights.

Your shots could be even higher than 7 inches at 100 yards. Don't rely on 30 yard results as indicative of impact points at other ranges.
Suggest you sight in at 75 yards, and take no shots at deer at ranges greater than that.

With "iron sights" I would zero in at 50 yeards
dead on, then you can adjust your shot upwords
depending were you are hunting woods or fields

Slugs move very slow and their trajectory varies significantly from load to load and gun to gun. I suggest you shoot a few shots at 50 and 75 yards to see where it is hitting and aim accordingly. Of course if you are using adjustable sights, you can correct the sighting accordingly too.
