    Reduce the recoil

Like christian said it reduces recoil by letting the gas exscape before the bullet. It also lets you get back on target faster.

Well yes it does both of the above, it redirects the gas that is headed out the end of the barrel (180 Degrees away from you) to about 45-90 perpendicular to the axis of the bore. since the escaping gas is no longer pushing back into your shoulder it reduces recoil around 50%. Problem is it also raises the noise level about the same amount.

              What you say SSSSSSUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNYYYYYY!

              Make you deaf too!

By the way, the muzzle pressure of a 30-06 150 grain at 24” with a chamber pressure of 52,000 psi is 12,000psi!

Accuracy is very good if installed right

Accuracy will not be effected and will sometimes improve until you start flinching from the monster your mild mannered little 30-06 has become a bellowing beast.

Directs some of the gas back and to the side to reduce felt recoil.
