    I would choose a pre-64 Winchester Model 70 chambered in 30-06. Can take down a moose and therefore everything smaller too.

    IMO, my Remington 700 BDL 30.06 is the one rifle I would keep if told I had to limit my choices. Can't give you the reasons except that it works for me.
