jhjimbo's right, both have sales on them from time to time. Another option is making a cash offer at a gun show, sometimes the dealers will eat at least the sales tax.

        Local Gunshop.

While others might have lower prices, there may be an other costs associated with that.

Customer service, knowledge.........my local shop has good guys. They've BTDT........and that can save you $ down the road.

Plus being a regular at a place often gets you a better deal. They know what I like, and call me when stuff comes in (get 1st chance at some cool less common used stuff).

The lowest cost is with a used one. Otherwise, here's a few sources:

some Wal-Mart locations carry the 10/22 but good luck in finding a price online. I guess you'll need to check your local store.

I'd look for an older alloy trigger guard model.
                  Preferably a walnut stocked standard.
New stuff isn't made as well.
Even if changing everything out to some custom build........I'd go with an older one.
Have seen some decent walnut models used around 200-225.
Same as a new plastic stocked one.
