Gary-the airport is a gun free zone. I work there, I was there last Friday. There is nothing that you can do if a CRAZY walks in the front door and before he hits screening he pulls out an AR and goes postal. Law enforcement had rehearsed this scenario the week before and were on scene within 60 seconds. He was ready to do major damage but they stopped him before he could. I work adjacent to the airport and regularly go through checkpoints on the way to the office. His gun was legally purchased. What needs to happen is the friends of these crazy guys need to turn them in! Someone had to know he had bad intentions!

Last week a shooting at a LA airport California.

Now this week there is another shooting inside a New Jersey crowd.

These two states are listed as the top five states in the nation with the most gun laws and gun bans.
    Hmmm, amazing isn‘t it?

How come nobody is shooting up crowded places in Montana, Texas, Wyoming or Oklahoma?
Maybe because more citizens are armed there and their loaded for bear.

    jhjimbo,
That is not going to happen soon, the press based in big cities, reported by people that for the most part do not know what end of a rifle the bullets come out of.

I think 99 is right, the press has to stop sensationalizing these shootings.

It appears from the record that in the United States, mass shootings prior to 1966 were family-related, or occurred in connection with some other crime, rather than directed at the public at random.

    Good post, WAM.
It looks like it all began with Whitman in Texas.

Very true WAM. But they were few and far between and in a time when firearms were not as regulated. Today we can't go 2 weeks without a tragedy.

When we run out of crazies....., which will be never, unfortunately.

Been in the news since 1966. Nothing new.

I don't know but this is getting ridiculous with all the copycats. I agree with 99.

Latest news as of this morning. No one was injured except the gunman. Who took his own life with a legal rifle stolen from his brother. A long history of drug abuse has become apparent.

For those of you who listen to Fox News here's their very brief article: www.foxnews.com/us/2013/11/04/gunman-opens-fire-inside-popular-new-jersey-mall/

Thankfully nobody appears to be injured.

This is a First Amendment problem.
If the mainstream news media would voluntarily stop sensationalizing these shootings as national news, and treat them as local news stories, we would soon see an end to these copycat crimes.
