    Lee Enfield vs Mosin Nagant.

  • #2
Both are long standing service rifles, still in service in some third world Countries. I have the Enfield No1 Mk5 and it shoots o.k. The spec for the Enfield was 4.5" at 100yds.
Looking at the two, I would say the Mosin is better made and there are many accounts to it's function.
Overall, I would give a +1 to the Mosin.

I don't have any expierence with either, but I'll say Lee-Enfield because of the design of the action.

I own 3 Mosins and give them the edge due to cheap ammo. I would bet the Enfield is more accurate on average though.

AK47: You don’t worry so much about some dirt getting in it.

Mosin Nagant, for many reasons. Reason #1: I have never seen a serviceable Lee-Enfield for sale, ever.

100% Mosin I recently bought my first and was shocked at the accuracy and cheap ammo. There is a ton of available stocks and accessories available online. The Mosin is the cheapest way to own a piece of military armament.

Well personally I own a einfield its a 2A, chambered in .308, and Im fairly certian that its better, the loading system is faster, (nothing gets in line of sight during reloading, it is fairly inexpensive (maybe not as much as the mosin, but if 50$ is the deal breaker maybe you should just save your money) but its very very well put together. I have heard that there are alot of mosins that just dont shoot straight, not a insult, there are just some duds out there. But ive never heard of a single einfield with that problem. Also, my grandfather was using a einfield in boot camp back in the day, and he spoke very fondly of it then, and after putting a couple of rounds through it he has the same opinion

This question is harder to answer than expected, and runs deeper than simply "I like this one better than that one." Enfield vs. Mosin?

Historically...they both command respect. The Enfield is slick and intuitive, making it one of the greatest battle rifles ever fielded... and the Mosin is versatile and robust, making its use incredibly widespread and lengthy.

Functionally... the Enfield's short and smooth action and cock-on-close bolt coupled with its 10 round magazine makes it more viable in combat, but the Mosin's dirt cheap simplicity and robust production keeps costs low and makes rifles easy to service.

Availability in the current market is probably not a good metric to judge these two. Mosins were produced in such great numbers that there will always be more good Mosins on the market than good Enfields. Enfields are harder to come by and more expensive because... dare I say... they are more sought after than Mosins and were generally more expensive to produce.

So in the end I'd have to say it's hard to pick one or the other. Personally, I own an Enfield No4 Mk1 and my friend owns a Mosin, and I prefer my Enfield. Much nicer to shoot at a range and possibly better looking than the Nagant. But if I were on the frontlines in one of the World Wars... who knows... I might change my mind.
