mike0714 is right. I never dryfire my rimfires all others I do but I use snap caps just to be extra safe.

Safado's right. Snap caps aren't dirt cheap, but they're cheaper that gunsmith fees and parts.... and if you can do the work youself, you should know better.

David wrote an article a while back saying it's ok to dry fire. But as an experienced in Competition and shooting for 50 years, taking two hard objects slamming together, one eventually is going to give! Take two hammers and try it, but I wouldn't do it OUCH!

I don't do it without snap caps. Some I make myself with a fired case, knock out the old primer and put in a piece of eraser. Holds up for a while.

Read Guys! check the manual, and if still not sure check with the manufacturer!

Normally that would be a sound bit of advice, RJ, but the manufacturers are driven by the principles of CYA and better-safe-than-sorry. If one person doesn't break a firing pin and they don;t have to fix it, they'll probably recommend that you don't dry-fire.

David E. Petzal actually recommended dry firing as a cheap, safe, and convient way to practice your rifle skills in one of his Ask Petzal columns.
