To follow up on a previous post about 30-30 recoil, I just shot my marlin 336 about 30 minutes ago and the recoil was just like what or less than what you guys said it would be. I think it was more fun than shooting a 22.

I hope your Marlin 336 serves you well for many years to come, and I have no doubt you'll enjoy working with it.

I cautioned you to save your brass because you may opt to reload the .30-30 in time, and your options as a handloader will greatly expand the versatility and your enjoyment of the .30-30, thanks to the spectrum of suitable bullets. For example, I use 110 gr. RN bullets designed for the M1 Carbine and my son and I use them as plinkers, whacking cans and clay targets. That was my son's introduction to the .30-30. I've just gone through 100 rounds with cast lead bullets with gas checks. I look forward to working with Hornady Leverevolution 160 gr bullets. If you use anything but flat points, do not put more than one round in the magazine. Given that limitation, you've got one in the chamber and one in the magazine, have fun with it! Whether you use factory ammo or carefully assembled handloads, use and enjoy your rifle.
