I have inherited some 50-year-old remington rifle primers. Are they still safe or effective to use? ---- If not, how should I dispose of them?

I've used primers that were 10 years old, well packaged and stored, but (for better or worse) I've disposed of questionable primers by an extended soak in mineral or vegetable oil before trashing them, and I'm aware our trash goes to a landfill. I don't know if there's a better way but, if there is, I'd certainly like to hear it from others.

I too would dispose of them. They're just so old. Primers aren't like well cared for powder. If they're not in original packaging but lumped together get them out of the house. Static could set them off.

Better safe than sorry- I would also say throw them away.
