I haven't bought a rifle of any sort in my entire sixty years. Dad gave me the two hunting rifles I currently use and they were both well used when I acquired them. I bought a new Browning A-5 shotgun in 1973 and it's the last gun I purchased, the only one new, and possibly the last gun I'll acquire in this lifetime. But I have probably used those guns more than most of you will in the next couple of lifetimes. Don't see the need in owning a lot of guns. But that's just me.

I have been experimenting with several new .375 caliber very low drag bullets and am intrigued by their accuracy. I may not get to it but I'd like to put a highly accurate 10 twist long range .375 target barrel on my rifle. I am trying to decide what cartridge to use to power it. I am thinking of necking up the .338 Lapua.

I'm also modifying my .300 Dakota by putting a muzzle brake on it. I have always said that I would never use a muzzle brake but I am trying to practice with high energy loads so I can have peak energy at 1000 yards. It is hurting my shoulder and negatively impacting my accuracy. I'm putting on a removable brake so I can crank it off when I hunt. I sure hope it does not negatively affect my accuracy but am anxious to see.

Looking to get a new rifle that I can afford to shoot, relatively flat shooting, that can be purchased in bulk ammo. Ive been wanting a .17 HMR for a while now, but with the new WSM coming out, my thoughts may be shifting.

Honker, besides being a living legend, you appear to be a member of Kabballah too. Say hello to Madonna for us.

Amflyer, I must confess, I had no knowledge of what "Kabballah" [sic] is. And, it seems, neither do you. As to the living legend stuff, perhaps you are jealous? My extensive bone collection was not found rotting in the fields.

At my age, am trying to cut back on my rifle ownership, but not too successfully. A 6.5/284 has been tempting me.

I am at the point of thinking about reducing my inventory mainly becasue I do not seem to have time or opportunity to use them all. Maybe someone from the Kaballah could enlighten me as to which to shed?

I have almost all the guns need (especially with my recent purchase of a 30-06) i would like a 10/22 for plinking and a semi auto shotty for ducks/geese but other then that. I don't need anything, want is a whole different matter.

I'm partial to flat shooting small bores so I'm always on the look-out for a Weatherby Mark V in .257 Weatherby Magnum or a pre '64 Winchester .264 Win Mag. I would use these on Mule Deer or possibly antelope.
