I know a few who have had problems with high point but they do stand behind them. 9mm or 40

The Hi-Point was Voted the Ugliest Hand Gun Ever!!
But they Shoot well, My Pick if you can handle the Re-coil would be the 40Cal if not the 9mm will do.

I'd spend a little more money one a better gun like a used Glock in 9mm or a revolver in .38

Best recommendation on caliber selection is to shoot a few to see what you like. As far as price 9mm would be the cheapest to shoot in the larger calibers. But like the people are saying I would do some research before purchasing any make/model firearm. Also look at the resale values of them that will tell you a lot.

I would get the one that I could throw the hardest incase it malfunctions, that way you still have a bakup plan. Actually the only fault with the High Point is finish. Customized a few while in school. There is a lot you can improve on with fit & finish. Great gun for the money. They were only $95 back in 1997 and they are much over $100 now are they.
