I love mine! - they are realy fun guns, and can be modified into a very good varmit rig. Be aware The initial purchase is just an entrance into an expensive world of accessories! just an overall fun gun to shoot.

Whats is the barrel twist, if it's 1 in 9, 1 in 8 or 1 in 7 go for it, it will handle the heavy grain bullets including the Nosler 60 grain Partition

My aunts husband just bought one. They are between heavy and not heavy. He paid 900 for his. Although in the stores they run from 900-1500 dollars.

Are they worth it? To who? If I had the funds I'd buy two. Right now I have none.

If you can't justify paying a grand for it, don't. They are fun, but not completely necessary...yet...

they are a very fun weapon to shoot and are very good varmit guns if you dont want to pay 1000 plus for one consider buying a kit and putting it together yourself it only takes about an hour model1sales.com has the kits starting at 450 any configuration you want and all you need is the lower receiver from a fll holder that will run around 200 plus so your looking at around 650-700 for an AR15 that someone else would have paid 1200 for and you have the satisfaction of knowing you put it together yourself any questions hit me up

It is deffinately worth it because the socialists and liberals don't want you to have one and they probably will not be available to people in the next few years.

if you keep it clean it will serve you well for 60000 rounds without anything breaking

and if its in 308 it can be used on big game also

I had a standard military AR15 that was cool but not as much fun as I had hoped because it just wasn't too accurate. I traded it in for a Bushmaster Varminter and that is WORTH IT! It is very accurate and a riot to shoot. I enjoy target shooting with it because of the accuracy. They are extremely accurate out to 600 yards with the 68 & 75 grain bullets. If you want to shoot at 600 yards a lot, get a 1 in 8 or 1 in 7 twist so you can shoot the 80 grain or 90 grain bullets. My most accurate bullet is the 50 grain VMAX and it would be excellent for varmints.

It's only worth it if you think so.

Slothman is right. Don't have one myself but my cousin does. Fun to shoot and accurate, but accessories and ammo are expensive; and you can go through some ammo pretty quick. If you want one bad enough then it's worth it.

Absolutely not, unless the paranoids attack. It has built-in inaccuracies that are not inherent in bolt-actions and the T/C Encore, which is a better choice anyhow, due to its flexibility. Not only is it more accurate as a rifle, but you have the options of an accurate pistol or an excellent shotgun as well. And what if you go to court for protecting yourself with it? The DA will have a great time depicting you as a paranoid and not believing a word of it himself.
