Would a .270 work for a deer and varmits? also is it a gun with some range? like could i take a 200 yard shot easy?

    The .270 will do all those things easily.
    You however need training to do it.

      A .270 should be sighted at 200 yards but if you don't have a lot of experience, and it sounds like you don't, be ethical and don't try to shoot beyond your comfort zone. Don't over-estimate your comfort zone either. Most hunters shoot half a box of ammo a year and I would recommend that these guys keep their shots closer than 250-300 yards.

        I'd say the .270 Win is more than up to the tasks for which you've purchased it, but I agree that the cartridge is one factor in a list of variables, and you've addressed that intelligently, now it's up to you to practice. You will enjoy maximum versatility from the .270 if you handload. Have you already purchased the rifle, or is it one of the cartridges under consideration?
