You can shoot sabot slugs out of a cylinder bore barrel but likely you won't get very good accuracy and it's not really worth the extra money you'll spend. Get a rifled barrel for your 1100, or, if you want to shoot the cylinder choke, I'd recommend Federal TruBall slugs, which are the most accurate slugs I have shot in smoothbore guns.

Should point out that the older style sabots that use slugs (lead rifled or hour glassed shape that look sort of like a huge pellet) instead of jacketed bullets will probably not tumble, but might not be as accurate as if they had some spin. Can only tell for sure by trying them in your gun.

I'll give you a somewhat visual example that will hopefully answer your question. The next time you go to your favorite fast food establishment, when you get your drink, get a straw with it. When you leave, keep your cup, your straw and take a few napkins with you. On your way home, stop at Wally World and get a small pack of BB's.
At some point during the day, make a few spitballs out of the napkins and put a BB into the middle of the spitball, this will be your sabot slug. Load it into the straw, this will be your smoothbore barrel. Now comes the visual, set the cup up at a given range and see how many times you can actually hit it consistently. If you are lucky, a ratio of 10 to 20 percent will be par for the course.
The sabot is just a vehicle for the projectile, not the projectile itself.
Now, make up some more spitballs, but make them cylindrical this time, instead of spherical, and keep the BB in the nose of the spitballs, instead of in the middle. See how much your accuracy improves now.
A rifled type of slug works on this principal, nose heavy. This keeps the slug going in a more straighter direction. This is what helps the accuracy of a projectile with the same scale of ballistics as a '55 Chevy.
When you fire a sabot slug out of a smoothbore barrel, you are shooting a spitball at your target.
I hope this helps.
