I have a 204 and a 22-250 barrel for my Encore and that 22-250 rides the frame nearly year round.

I don't see what the use of a 204 is (other than for target shooting.) I think a 6mm. Remington is better because it can launch a 50 grain bullet at over 4000 fps. But I suppose since I don't have one, I can't say anything bad abuot it.

I hear it is a very accurate round though.

I love my Savage 204 ,it might weigh 10 pounds but I dont care. ive shot 2 1/2" group at 300yrd . only thing I dont like is as it heats up after 20 rounds its off target,so, the barrel needs cryo'd to stablize it. That worked well on my AR15 .

I don't own one but have shot one. Like clay said its a little bullet that can be affected by the wind. I shoot a .243 for coyotes and on windy days for prairie dogs. The .204 is a fun gun but as far as practicality I'm not sure where it really falls.

I forgot to add (MY BAD!) the 204 Ruger would be a prime choice around live stock and populated areas to prevent ricochets for critter control !

To be honest with you, I cannot see the advantage of owning a 204 Ruger when I have a 22-250 that’s ballistic superior and bucks wind better. I can sizzle a 40 grain bullet just as fast and it’s legal for deer in most states. I love and prefer multipurpose equipment!

I had a Rem 700 LVSS in .204Rug. Accuracy ranged from 0.4" - 1.5" @ 100 yds depending on ammo. Groups would open up after 20-30 rounds, though. Only used it out to 200 yards - wind wasn't much of a factor at that range. No experience at longer ranges. Considering getting the gun back.

Does anyone have a 204 Ruger? I have a h&r; single shot and was wondering if anybody else had a 204 Ruger and what they thought about the caliber. Personally I love mine, but i wanted to see if anyone thinks a another caliber might be better than it.
