    I typically bed the action and free float the barrel. I see rifles fully bedded but have never owned one. I have one rifle that shoots best with the action fully bedded and about one inch of the barrel bedded as well. Until we added that inch I was not to happy with it, now it is one of my favorites. Perhaps we dampened the harmonic vibrations just right...accidentally.

      Never done both to the same rifle. Like Ish, I prefer to float the barrel and bed the action. Typically that give the best results for me. But, I did have one Remington 700 BLD that had to be fully bedded before it would shoot. Notice I said, did have...
