the 30-30 has a bigger diameter; the .270 has the biggest punch (velocity, recoil, trajectory, etc.)

The 30-30 has a bigger diameter bullet. The .270 has a bigger OverAllLength.

I guess I can't tell you anything different. The posts before me had the same thoughts. I do like shooting my .270, they are a very nice caliber to shoot and your shoulder isn't hamburg at the end of the day.

WOW you must be new to the hunting community. .30-30, being .30 caliber is obviously larger in bullet diameter than the .270, but the .270 has more case capacity.

.30 caliber means 3/10(.308 actually) of one inch diameter. .270 means 2.7/10(.277). so the 30-30 obviosly has a larger diameter, but the .270 is a far superior hunting round in almost every situation. The only exception may be close range hunting in heavy cover, as is prevalent in the northeast

but the .30/30 is a cooler gun, I can't remember John Wayne with a .270.

30/30 is pretty much a 200 yard gun. The .270 has a much longer effective range.
