Deciding on an AR-15 Scope

Been looking at a Burris 1.5-6X 30mm w illum dot.
Might be usable for a short/midrange night time yoter.
Think WAM got one (seen on another forum).

Decided to not scope my AR, but still looking for a general big game scope for another rifle.
Slapped a Leupold RDS on my Frankengun

Precision accuracy makes an AR a LOT more fun to shoot. You can get up to Vortex Diamondback around $200 that shoot with precision. So do the Nikon scopes with BDC Spot on reticles and I favor them because you can actually aim well out to 600 yards with them. The level of magnification you need depends on your range expectations:
1. Across the bedroom (red dot, laser or none)
2. 100-200 yard hunting (2-7x or 3-9x)
3. 100-600 yard hunting (3-9x or 4-14x with BDC reticle)
4. Targets out to 1000 yards, precision varmints, hitting what you are aiming at (6-24 with long range reticle)...

I use my AR for shooting p-dogs out to 1000 yards and targets out to that range. I use it for coyote and fox shooting from 10 yards to 300 yards. I don't shoot my AR in the house because it make so much noise I'd rather be shot by an intruder.

For movers, close in and out to 200 yard hunting, just rifle.........no bipods.........liked a 2-7X.

Walking lots of ground, calling various sites..........heavy just sucks.

I'm wanting to be able to hunt hogs at night and be able to preditor hunt and be able to shot up to 300yrds or more but I don't know what magnification of scope I need for my AR - 15

Have you decided on what type of scope is the best for AR? I have a farm, and coyotes are bothering me. I was using semi-automatic pistols to get rid of them, but recently I bought a rifle and wasn't to buy a scope for it. I was using a Beretta 950. I found out about it on ballachy.com. It is an excellent semi-automatic pistol, but many people are saying that rifles are way better for getting rid of coyotes. They were right because it is way more efficient, and I think that scope will make it more efficient.

I’ve used a few scope for my AR-15/AR-10. I ended up settling with a Vortex strike eagle 1-8 and on the other is a Riton 1-8 that one of my former soldiers recommended I give a try. They both preform flawlessly. I think the Riton was around $200 but the Vortex was around $400. I did try the vortex crossfire a1-4 and for the money it’s not bad at all. I have a Leupold freedom 1-4 on a AR-10 and the thing has pretty good glad and is much lighter then the other scope I’m using on my ARs. I guess if you want to save a few but I have no issues recommending the Riton or the vortex crossfire to anybody. If you don’t mind spending a few more green backs then the Leupold is the clear winner followed by the Vortex strike eagle.
