In a house or trailer high base 7-1/2s or low base 8s will do the job and people in the next room will be ok.

A Benelli M4 is your best bet. Its a semi (used by the U.S. military) with a collapsible stock. Very well built and could certainly get the job done.

357magnum or 44acp my frst choices. 12ga. would be my second choice, because shot guns are long even sawnoff with pistol grips and they take to long to pull out. A pistol can be hidden and pulled out quickly if the intruder catches you off gaurd. If certian laws take place, in some places you'll have to keep all your home protection firearms under lock and key. So, it won't really matter what you have. Unless the intruder has patients while you unlock and load it.

If push comes to shove (and I hope that it never does) nothing that I can thing of would be as effective as a 12 ga. shotgun properly set up for home protection.

First I would choose to live in a place where I don't need to worry about home protection, if that were not an option my next answer would be a good dead bolt lock, if that isn't good enough I have my two labs, they may be sweethearts but intruders don't know that, after that give me a baseball bat.

Forgot to mention Mossberg has a Fed. Min. barrel(18in.) that can be purchased as part of combo or as an after mkt. item.

Hard to beat a shotgun, lots of ammo options to cover various situations, always want to be aware of over penetration in Home defense situations, don't want bullets going through walls and hiting family members and neighbors..... A good semi Auto pistol with attatched light is another great option, easier to keep locked in a quick access safe, if you go with the 12 gauge I suggest a light for it as well, can help blind a would be attacker and also help avoid shooting someone or something you shouldn't.

Taurus Judge. (did i spell it right?). It shoots .410 shotgun shells and .45 long colts. It is beautiful.

I have a youth model 20 gauge pump with home protection ammo. That way if i do have to shoot, my friend in the next room isnt getting nailled with buckshot from over penetration.
