I saw a young lady hunting an elk at 400 yards with it. With the 123 grain eld x Hornady bullet going 2550fps out of a 24 inch barrel I would say it's an ethical kill. The elk took 4 steps and dropped. It will go out as far as a 308 will before keyholing. But I would rather take a shot with my 20 inch SPS tactical. Shoots superformance 168 eldx a little better than 2700 fps muzzle velocity. Much harder hitting and alot more ethical. And pretty darn accurate I might add.

For varmints, they are just too slow for the longer range shooting that sport demands. The 6.5mm bullets just don't get light enough to achieve high velocity in the Grendel with 95g being about the lightest you can get. Now the 6.5 Creedmoor is quite a cartridge that eclipses the Grendel.
Dakotaman: In the 22 years I've been online reading posts about ammunition, yours is the single most ignorant and erroneous I've ever read.

It has better ballistics than the .308

Curious where you get your info. There is plenty of footage of the grendel taking down elk, buffalo, big ram, etc.

I have no experience with this cartridge, and couldn't find it in my reloading manuals! I guess it's time to purchase a new manual or two.

Good varmint to deer size game cartridge. Load from 90gr up to 140gr. 129gr Hornady gives about 2450 fps.

Don't know that I've even SEEN a 6.5 Grendel round, but when researching the 6.8mm Rem SPC round, it was compared quite often to the 6.5mm Grendel.
They seemed to always give the Grendel the edge.
The 6.8mm is a good .30-30 class cartridge, the Grendel should be even a a bit better.
