Did anyone tune into the Congressional Hearing on Gun Violence. Myself I found it far less scary than all the rumors that abound. The emphasis was on curing the Mental Health and Judicial System than anything else. There was also a disscusion on the legal transfer of weapons. But mostly pretaining to Straw Purchases.

Carl it got turned around to 100 round magazines and the Senator grilling the young lady that she shouldn't have an AR to protect her young children in her own home and telling people what type of guns that they should be able to own. The police chief from Md. didn't know what he ws talking about when he said 40% of guns were bought without a background check. Dept. of Justice figures show different, very different figures. The hearing should have centered entirely on mental illness, violent movies, violent video games and enforcing laws already on the books.

Yes Sarge there were some that were getting off point and extending the discussion to the ridiculous. I got the feeling that the Baltimore Police Chief was pushing for more LEO's than an armed Teacher or Citizen. If you've ever been to Baltimore I have. You need a whole lot of both. I was glad to see by and large they were attempting to keep the guns away from crazies and criminals. A 5 year federal prison term for the use of a firearm in commission of a felony would do a lot to help LEO's and keep us safe.

Our prisons are overflowing as it is with our War on Drugs. There is no place to put folks rounded up by a War on Guns. Even so, the Skeet shooter in Chief is making the rounds banging his drum to ban "military style" rifles and magazines that hold more than ten. Question; since military snipers use bolt action scoped rifles does his stupid blanket term of "military style" rifles therefore include my hunting rifles? Lets round up the violent nut cases and leave honest law abiding citizen's guns alone

Dave is right on. Im a Correctional Officer for the state of Indiana. Our prisons cant fit the ones we already have, and have comeing back again and again. where will all these new criminals go? And again correct with the term military style rifle, I've posted before and ill sadly post again It may start out as "assault weapons" but next will be "sniper rifles" ie your hunting rifle. since the .223 is such a dangerous scary round just think how scary your 30 06 will look when they hold that round next to it. just saying folks

I believe what came to light at this hearing was that criminals were not imprisoned long enough. Or if at all for firearm charges. Prisons being over crowded is not an excuse for criminals to get a pass. The focus was not on a particular caliber or particular firearm. There was some talk on Hi Cap magazines. Like I said the actual discussion except for some baiting about a 100 round drum. Was far less broad than the rumors on the Internet.

I was not interested in getting an AR until I heard Jessee Jackson on the news. He said that the AR assault weapons are a security issue and they can shoot down airplanes and blow up railroads. I didn't know they could do all that so I have changed my mind and now I just have to have one. Carl one of my good friends was a Homicide Det. on the Baltimore Police force several years ago. He retired about 5 years ago. The guys on his night shift used to take bets on how many murders they would have each night. Not on if they would have one but how many. In DC and in Baltimore you used to hear alot of ruckus because years ago it was whites shooting blacks. Now you don't hear anything because it is blacks killing blacks. It is the same in Chicago that is why I can't understand why Obummer isn't trying to do something in the cities to stop that crime and it isn't being done with AR's.

Yes Sarge Hollywood should be on the R&D of gun companies. I'm still looking for a 9MM that can make a Ford burst into flames. As far as Baltimore my son was a Psychologist for a time. He dealt with kids 10 to 16 charged with anything less than murder. I'm not going to waste time with his stories. But needless to say he moved back to NY and became a Nurse Anesthesiologist. He felt he could do more good than dealing with lost causes.
