Guy that made my knife (simple no frills Bush knife) aint in good shape.
    Needs sharpened.
Know another guy that grinds blades that way. May have him slick it up.

Might need it come October or November to do my one deer a year LOL

      Nope, won't be doing that.
The knives were big and long. Some balanced in look though, and pretty.
The guys in the article? Um.... I thought were a bit too "different".

Personally, I won't even finish a deer off with a blade.
I'll just shoot em again if need be (bow or gun).

Knives for critter dispatch, bothers me.
CD2, I was bothered a little the first time I finished off a deer with a knife, about 25 years ago. Since then it's become easier. The most recent one was last Friday morning. It's personal at stabbing distance and makes you extremely aware of what's happening. I hope to never be so callous as to stop feeling sympathy for the beasts. But at least I'm aware of what I'm doing and own up to it. In contrast, the soccer mom at the grocery store feels nothing when she picks up a pound of ground beef for the family dinner.

Well, there is that danger. In the woods I just shoot again if it looks too lively. Around the house I use a handheld spear which puts a little distance. I don't want my neighbors to know I'm hunting the 'baby deer'.

To some of our members, stabbing enhances the "thrill of the kill."
I once knew a hunter who said his dream was to drop down on a deer from an overhead tree branch with a knife held in his teeth, and stab the animal to death.
            A juvenile fantasy.

That clown has no clue how dangerous a mere deer can be ... especially one wounded with a knife. The coroner will be scooping him up in a lunch sack. Body bag won't be necessary.
