      I guess eliminating ticks is hopeful thinking. I did some research and it takes a week of -20 F to kill the little buggers. Insulating snow and leaf material could even prevent it with that temperature.

        -20F is not likely. The experts say the Arctic Vortex is because the Arctic is warming(ice shelf melting), warm air expands and rises and cold air falls - therefore the cold freeze for the U.S.
        The consensus of the experts is that we will see more severe storms and wider temperature swings.
        News just today is of a giant solar flare that will bring some temperate weather to us.

          -27C (-16F) and it's only 11:00 p.m. Will be minus thirty by morning. This is getting old!
