  • Learned a lesson

I was doing a wheel bearing on my boat trailer and bought one off e-bay. Put it all together and the castle not would not screw on enough to put in the cotter key. Took it apart and checked the seating of the races, put it back together and same thing, nut would not go on far enough. Finally, took my calipers to the job and measured the replacement bearings, they were .014" too thick that added up to about .040" thicker then what they should be. (races were off .002") They had the righpartt number on them, just off spec. Leason learned.

"... thicker then what they should be. ..."

...thicker THAN they should be, not "THEN"...

I wouldn't normally say anything, but you reminded me I was wrong when I said, "...wife and me..." instead of, "...wife and I...".

Thought you might appreciate the correction. πŸ˜‰

    OH!
BTW! It's Dan "Bongino", not "Bomgino".
    Just helping you out jimbo.

Somethings in life you don’t cheap out on. Toilet paper being one of them. And a little further down the list bearings.

Another reason I wouldn't buy bearings off "e-bay".
I take it to my parts guy. He measures and compares it to his stock.
If he can't match it, HE knows who and where to order it and says, "It'll be here tomorrow."

Wrong again, "Scare Crow". If you know where to shop and what to ask for, you can still get American made bearings.
But YOU don't want ME to educate you, so, enjoy your "El Cheapo", Chinese made bearings!

you get your bearings from your 'guy' - he will stick it to you and give you a China made bearing anyway. You are too cheap to get a Timken - which might be made in China.

Well, at least you got "off" correct.
To bad you forgot to capitalize the G and used no punctuation to end your run on sentence. tsk, tsk.

"My" guy? No sir, he treats me fairly and I never argue price. There are pluses to shopping "Small Town, USA". I know him, his wife, his family and his dad runs the local bank. Nice folks.
Keep buying from strangers on e-bay! They send you goods that don't fit...apparently.
Look who got screwed! LOL! Not me!

Speaking of "useless, ignorant posts", check out this one! πŸ˜‰

Are you okay? You seem a bit irritated.

The CBO and Univ of Penn both say Biden is full of it. This massive give away will increase inflation big time.

I'm still paying over $4/gal for diesel. Sometimes over $5/gal.

Inflation is still higher than my COLA raise.
